Now who would have guessed that a little photo organization could save you money? Well, it’s true. First off, the drugstore chains often have offers for free photos. The trick to taking advantage of these deals is to have your photos ready to go. What I do is set up a simple folder on my desktop where I drop my favorite photos. I make sure that I’ve set them up the way I want – cropping and removing red eye, for example. Then when these quickie freebie photo deals come up, I’m ready to drop my photos in and take advantage of the deals.
Now where you can really save some money is over the holidays. Last year, many online photo companies like Shutterfly and Cardstore offered totally free holiday cards – sometimes up to 10 at a time with free shipping! I was annoyed at myself because I missed out on a couple of deals because I didn’t have photos ready. I learned my lesson, got my photos together and managed to get about 40 free holiday cards. That was a huge savings!
If you’re pinching your pennies (and aren’t we all), take some time to get some of your favorite photos together so you’re well-positioned to grab the freebies when they come along!
