Connecticut State Parks and Beaches FREE Friday – Monday

No doubt – Connecticut was hit HARD by Hurricane Irene. Over 700,000 residents were left without power and today, more than 200,000 (including myself!) are still without power. We are not slated to get the power turned on until Monday, September 5. Yikes. That’s over a week without power.

Connecticut residents should know that this Labor Day weekend (Friday-Monday), all state beaches and parks will be open and FREE. This does not include overnight camping which ain’t free. I’ve been without power for almost a week with no end in sight. Pay to camp overnight with no power? Not on your life.

You can find more details here.  Perhaps many of you can enjoy a day at the beach or state park. Much deserved after this week of hardship.
