I am a big fan of the corporate coupon policy. I like to play by the rules, but I absolutely need to know the rules of the game.
Big Y has its corporate coupon policy posted HERE. This is the policy they have posted on their website. Your own coupon experience may be different. I find it is always a good idea to print out the policy and keep it with you when you shop.
Coupon Policy For Manufacturers’ Coupons:
The purchase must meet the terms of the coupon.
You must purchase the item (or items) as specified on the coupon.
Only one coupon is allowed per item.
I can’t say I’ve ever seen a Big Y store coupon; if there were Big Y store coupons you would not be able to stack it with a manufacturer coupon.
Coupons with a face value less than 99¢ will be doubled
“Face Value” is the amount listed on your coupon. So a $.20 coupon will double to $.40, a $.50 coupon will double to $1, and a $.75 coupon will double to $1.50.
The value of a coupon, when doubled, may not exceed the price of the item. If it does, the item is free.
If your coupon, when doubled, exceeds the price of the item you get it free but you will not get the overage. I was in a couple of weeks ago and the cashier would not double my coupon because it exceeded the price of the item when doubled. That’s why you carry a copy of the store’s coupon policy with you!
“Free-item” coupons will not be doubled.
I don’t know why any “free item” coupons would ever be doubled, but just in case you’re thinking about it Big Y won’t double it.
Coupons will not be accepted for items that are “free” on the basis of our ad, i.e., Buy One Get One Free sales, etc.
You can’t use 2 coupons on a Buy One, Get One Free sale.
Redemption of identical coupons is limited to 5 per customer per ad week.
You can only use 5 “like” coupons per ad week. The “per ad week” language is a little different. I don’t know how they would track “like” coupons if you did multiple transactions.
Double coupon offer excludes coupons on tobacco products, alcohol, lottery tickets & other items prohibited by law.
I don’t know about you, but I never have coupons for these items!
Internet coupons are subject to the same rules.
The takeaway from this one is Big Y DOES accept Internet printed coupons. Funny that their coupon policy does not specifically state that they do.
We reserve the right to accept or reject any coupon.
